The FORCAST readability formula focuses on functional literacy. It is usually used in evaluating adult questionnaires, forms, multiple choice tests and job materials that are not in narrative form.
Unlike most readability formulas, the FORCAST formula ignores both the number of sentences and their lengths. Rather, the basis of the FORCAST formula has to do with the number of single-syllable words present in the material being evaluated.
